Substation Maintenance II delivers personalized training on the maintenance and safety aspects within the components of a substation for effective system reliability.
This class offers training on power factor/dissipation factor testing of power and distribution type transformers, familiarization of transformer configurations and insulating mediums, as well as performing a transformer turns ratio/winding test, and insulation resistance testing.
Additionally, lessons learned are proper transformer oil testing procedures along with conducting and interpreting results of an earth resistance test. Finally, students will learn the ability to perform, and understand the basic functions and testing measures on vacuum, oil, and air switches that are used within any substation.
This course is available in Spanish.
This hands-on course is intended for apprentices, technicians and engineers responsible for the maintenance and testing of industrial and utility substations.
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
Before attending this course, the participant must complete the Substation Maintenance I course.
Students must wear long pants and safety toe shoes to complete the lab portion of this course.
This course is required for our Substation Maintenance Technician Certification Program.
