While duct tape can come in handy, I’m pretty sure the designers didn’t mean for it to funnel battery acid! If the liquid expands enough in the battery when the battery heats up, the duct tape holds the container with the acid neutralizing agent. Not only that, the duct tape is also specifically engineered and installed in such a manner that it creates a funneling effect to direct the spilled battery acid into the container. Seriously?
It would take less time to do it right and repair the cracked battery lid. Looks like this guy should have attended AVO’s Battery Maintenance and Testing course, or at least covered the fundamentals in our Substation Maintenance Certification.
