Dennis Neitzel, CPE, Director Emeritus
Since joining the team in 1989, Dennis has been a strong influence on AVO’s direction. While we have many team members involved in research with electrical and safety associations, he is our key influencer. Dennis is a NFPA 70E® Principal Committee Member and Special Expert (since 1992), the IEEE 902 (3007) Working Group Chairman, IEEE P45.5 Working Group Chairman, IEEE 1584 Working Group Member, IEEE P1713 Working Group Member, IEEE P1814 Working Group Member, Co-Author of the Electrical Safety Handbook and a member of the Defense Safety Oversight Council (DoD Electrical Safety Special Interest Initiative). His expertise is requested for speaking events and research committees around the world. We draw on his knowledge of emerging regulations and involvement in electrical research to stay on the forefront of change. He also has worked in the electrical industry since 1967 specializing in electrical safety and power systems analysis for commercial, utility and manufacturing facilities. Dennis received his Bachelors and Masters in Electrical Engineering from Columbia Pacific University and is a Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), Certified Technical Instructor (Westinghouse) and Certified Electrical Inspector.
Mark Ackerson

He has strong experience in the installation, inspection and repair of electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment. His expertise includes troubleshooting and repair of programmable logic controllers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, preventive/predictive maintenance programs and implementing process development. Mr. Gauthier received his ASEE from Alpena Community College, and pursued a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering degree from Michigan State University. He served in the U.S. Army for 12 years.

There are currently 3 positions available.
The available Contract Instructor positions require a minimum of ten (10) years hands-on field experience and extensive knowledge in areas such as substation equipment maintenance and testing; electro-mechanical protective relays: OSHA and NFPA 70E electrical safety; and motor control circuitry. Instructors must also be proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Instructors are required to travel domestic and international.
Contract instructors are part-time and work on an as-needed basis, based on fields of expertise and client demand for the subject matter. Our needs can generally range from a few weeks per year to almost full time, depending on industry demand, as well as the Instructor's desire to work.

Develop and update course content and various media methods for all current and proposed new courses.
Conduct course assessment to identify new development needs and recommend improvements.
Requires at least 3 years of experience in technical writing, course development, designed for instructor-led and on-line training presentations in an adult learning format.
Must be able to research, develop and write curriculum for electrical safety, engineering and maintenance courses.
Applicants must possess technical and grammatically correct writing skills.
Must be high level user of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of In Design a plus.

All course development and revisions will be processed through the Desk Top Publishing Department.
E – Learning training programs must be based on AVO Training Institute training courses.
Prepare and maintain policy, objectives and goals of E-Learning business development.
Utilize and provide E-Learning programs through electronic means, web-based virtual class rooms, and self study programs.
Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in utilizing appropriate techniques such as web-based training, webinars, or virtual classroom training(E-Learning).
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
